After yesterdays 11 mile run, and after how sore I was yesterday, I was quite shocked to wake up this morning with no muscle soreness at all. I definitely wasn’t expecting to have such an easy time getting around today. I did however, still take it easy today. It was a marathon training rest day after all. I went to church, got some lunch with the hubs, and then laid around on the couch all afternoon until it was time to pick up the kids.
Once I got the kids and got home though, I did get in 10 minutes of the full body work out on the Daily Workout App. I really enjoy using this app as a quick cross training tool. You can select 10 min, 20 min, or 30 min for the length of your workout, and you can select what you want to focus your workout on, Ab, Arm, Butt, Cardio, Leg, or Full. I’ve just been doing 10 minutes of the Full on my marathon rest days. The first time, the 10 minutes about killed me. I was sweating pretty good. I wasn’t expecting to have gotten my heart rate up like I had either. But now, after about the 3rd session, I’m feeling like the next time I’ll increase the time from 10 minutes to 20 minutes. The time selector makes it easier to squeeze in a quick aerobic workout without feeling like you don’t have time. It’s a lot easier to change my clothes, and select a 10 minute Full body workout on my phone than it is to change my clothes, kick the family out of the living room, set up the DVD, wait for the DVD to get through all the health risks and disclaimers, select the workout I want to do, and then sweat it out for at least 30 minutes. Having to do all that, will sometimes lead to the excuses and then turn into something that doesn’t ever get done.
Tomorrow is a marathon training day. 4 miles + strides.
