My muscles are feeling a lot better since my half marathon race on Sunday. The last 2 days I’ve taken it easy and just walked for a mile on the treadmill. Last night I had a bit of panic when I realized my first marathon is only 96 days away and I probably should have started training by now. I found a training program, through my Runkeeper app. However, based on the date of the marathon, I should have started this program 3 weeks ago. I went ahead and started the program tonight, just picking up here I should have been had I started on time.
Today was a 5 mile tempo run (1 mile slow, 3 miles fast, 1 mile slow). Not knowing how my ankle would behave, I decided that the first and the last mile I would walk, and then the 3 miles I would run at a slow pace of 5mph. The good news is that I was able to run a full 3 miles with only minor discomfort in my ankle. Hopefully this means that the tendon is improving. Trying hard to not overdo it, but it’s extremely difficult when I lack patience!
